Day 2 ++ Modern Plus Sign Quilts Book Hop ++ Signature Plus and Tribal Plus

Welcome to the second day of the Modern Plus Sign Quilts book hop and the first day we are sharing book quilts!   Today, we will be sharing Signature Plus and Tribal Plus as well as hosting a giveaway of some fabulous thread (sponsored by Aurifil).

Signature Plus

Signature Plus was our take on a modern version of the Red Cross Signature Quilt from WWI (you can see the WWI version and read more about it here).

Our Signature Plus blocks were made by 122 bloggers from across the US and England.  I pieced the blocks together and Johellen George quilted the quilt with a beautiful floral quilting design.  Michael Miller provided the Cotton Couture Solids and other fabric to make this quilt and Warm & White batting from the Warm Company was used.

Soma, Ann, and Kitty used the Signature Plus pattern to make some new quilts and items, please check out their blogs...

Tribal Plus

Tribal Plus is a fun, lap sized design that Paige designed, pieced, and quilted.  The instructions use strip piecing so this quilt comes together really quickly and easily. I love how she used quilting to highlight the row nature of the quilt.

The fabrics came from Windam Fabrics, the batting was Warm & White, and Aurifil threads were used for the piecing and quilting.

Sophie, Afton, and Shelly used the Tribal Plus pattern to make some new quilts and items, please check out their versions...

If you are enjoying seeing the variations of the quilts in the book and are inspired to make one of your own, you can purchase a Modern Plus Sign Quilts book (amazon links are affiliate):

  1. Thanks for sharing my signature block! I'm glad I could contribute to the book. What are the plans for the quilts from the book? Do you and Paige get to keep them?

  2. This was definitely a fun quilt.

  3. Thank you for the inspiration, one is more beautiful than the other .....

  4. This is a great quilt. I love the red and white.

  5. What a fun hop! I love seeing the variety of quilts made with your patterns. They really have me thinking!

  6. Cheryl, I'm really enjoying the hop and the book!!!

  7. I'm so excited to see the different versions of both of these quilts!!

  8. Great quilts, but I have to admit, Kitty's zipper bag is what caught my eye. This would make a great teacher gift for the holidays.

  9. Congratulations on a successful first hop day!

I absolutely love seeing all the different versions of the quilts, as it really gives me so many ideas! I'm terrible at envisioning a quilt in different colors / arrangements, so seeing people make such different versions is just fabulous. Thank you for organizing this hop and for including me in it!

  10. What lovely reading I have had today. It's great to see the different versions of the quilts. Congratulations on a fantastic book!

  11. I am pretty sure I am going to make the Tribal Plus quilt next. It is gorgeous! Such a great book! :D

  12. What fun to see all the interpretations on a plus sign quilt.

  13. Loving the hop Cheryl, so many wonderful versions of the quilts.

  14. The quilts by Afton and Ann are my favourites, I love their use of colour. x

  15. I love the book, and all of the patterns and quilts. 'Have to get the book and make a Tribal Plus for sure.
