Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - July 2022

Welcome to July's Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup!

I have had many finishes this month as I complete all of the quilts for my next book.  I think that I have bound over 15 quilts in the month of July!  Here is just a little sneak peek of a few of the bindings/backings...

Ready for the party?

Here is a reminder of the party details:
  • The linky party will open at 12:01am EST on the last day of the month and will be open for 5 days, through the 4th at 11:59 pm EST.
  • For instructions on how to link up blog, Instagram, or pictures from your computer (new - there is now a way to just upload a picture without a web link) to the party, click here.
  • If linking a blog post, I ask that you please add a link back to the party.
  • Please visit at least 3 other links (and preferably leave comments) to share the love and celebration :)

As an added bonus, I will donating a portion of the sale to the Greenville Humane Society and Greenville Animal Care.

We adopted Oreo and Piper through the Greenville Humane Society and Reeses through Greenville Animal Care. Both organizations provide low cost or free spaying/neutering, great adoption programs, education to the community, and medical care to animals.

This is not an Instagram worthy picture of my sewing room (this is what it looks like as I finish 32 book quilts), but all three of my girls are hanging out with me as I sew.

Melodic Mystery Quilt ++ Quilt Kits

I'm so excited to be kicking off the Melodic Mystery and am sharing all about quilt kits options for the Mystery Quilt Along in this post :)

You do not need to purchase a kit to take part in the quilt along, you are free to use fabric you already have.  But if you are interested in getting a kit of preselected fabrics for the quilt we have 8 kits that I personally selected from the Fat Quarter Shop and there are also options from Serge & Sew (Canadian quilting shop).

You can find the introductory post all about fabric requirements for the Melodic Mystery quilt here.

The Fat Quarter Shop kits are not single kit you can purchase, if you like the fabric combinations listed below, use the links to go to each fabric and place the amount listed into your cart to build your kit (affiliate links).

Note that 1/8 yard cuts were rounded up to the nearest 1/4 yard and these kit options include binding but do not include yardages for backing.

**Shipping for orders over $80 (within the US) is free from the Fat Quarter Shop **

Melodic Mystery Quilt ++ Fabric Requirements

Welcome to the kick off of the Melodic Mystery Quilt!!  I am so excited to get started and I hope that you are too!

The Melodic Mystery Quilt is a free, monthly quilt along hosted on my blog (all instructions will be posted here) running from July 2022 through April 2023 with a set of instructions posted the first Thursday of every month.

The lap sized mystery quilt is at an advanced beginner level containing basic piecing techniques (no applique, Y-seams, or paper piecing).

The directions and all of the other information relate dot the mystery quilt can always be found on the Melodic Mystery Home Page.

HOW TO JOIN

This has been my most asked question, how to join in on the Melodic Mystery quilt?  There is no official sign up, list, or cost to join in the mystery quilt along.  Each set of instructions will be posted to this blog as a post on the first Thursday of each month.

Links to the mystery quilt posts will also be posted in the Facebook Group, on Instagram, and in the Newsletter.

Don't miss a single Melodic Mystery Quilt post (or any other blog posts) by subscribing to the Meadow Mist Designs blog posts via EmailBloglovin, or Feedly.

SPONSORS

We have a dozen generous sponsors donating fabric, thread, patterns, and more as prizes.  You can read all about the sponsors here.

FABRIC KITS

You do not need to purchase a fabric kit to take part in the mystery quilt along, but if you would like to use a fabric kit there are many options.  I put the fabric kit information into its own post (also posting today at the same time) to keep this post from being too long.  You can find the quilt kits here.

UN-MYSTERY QUILT - SNEAK PEEK OPTION

The sneak peek is now available :)  You can find the un-mystery quilt sneak peek pdf right here.

Remember to please keep the design of the mystery quilt a secret.

EASY TO PRINT INSTRUCTIONS

Now that the Melodic Mystery quilt along has ended, you can find a easy to print, full version of the pattern for sale in my pattern shop.

PATTERN NOTES
  • Width of fabrics (WOF) for this pattern is assumed to be 40".
  • A scant ¼" (a thread width smaller than ¼") seam is to be used throughout the construction of the quilt unless otherwise instructed.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

FABRIC SELECTION TIPS
  • It is suggested that a solid or a tone-on-tone print that reads as a solid be used for the background fabric.
  • Due to the finished fabric piece sizes and piecing methods for the quilt top, it is recommended that fabric prints used (especially the background) have a non-directional design.
  • To help plan your fabrics for the mystery quilt, be sure that all fabrics that are next to each other have enough contrast between them.

  • Scrappy/Charm Pack Option - The fabric A may be made using scraps or from charm packs (or other precut fabrics).  Generally, the fabric A pieces within the quilt are 4" x 4" or smaller.

Many thanks to the generous sponsors of the Melodic Mystery Quilt!

Any questions? Leave them in a comment below or post them to our Facebook group page. I look forward to seeing everyone's fabric selections. The next set of instructions will be published on the first Thursday of August, the 4th.
