Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - March

Welcome to the first Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup!

My favorite finish of March is a quick charity finish that I have not even had time to blog about (we just finished getting new carpet in the upstairs so blogging time has been limited).

Back many years ago, I made a Swoon block (pattern by Camille Roskelley).  I had thought about making a Swoon quilt, but after one block I did not feel like making anymore.  This lone block has been hanging out in my sewing room too long so I needed to be finished into something.

I added 5" (finished) borders to the 24" block to make a nice baby quilt that was the perfect size to use a single width backing.  A quick open swirl quilt pattern and some plaid binding finished the quilt.

This quilt will be donated to through the Greenville Modern Quilt Guild to the Greenville Hospital System for children when they are taken from their homes by DSS.

I am a couple of weeks late, but I wanted to wish Paige and my book, Modern Plus Sign Quilts, a happy 1st birthday :)

I can't believe that it has been an entire year, I had such fun brainstorming, making the quilts, and writing the book with Paige.

For the release, we held a 40+ blogger blog hop.  Below are thumbnails and links to each of the quilts from the book and the different versions from the bloggers.

Welcome Bear Creek Quilting Company

I would love to welcome Bear Creek Quilting Company today as as new sponsor for the Meadow Mist Designs blog!
Hint hint....there may be a giveaway at the end of this post.

I asked Shari to share a little about her shop...

Bear Creek Quilting Company started in 2011 as a family business based out of Lebanon Oregon. Over the years they have grown and the online shop now has thousands of yards of fabric available. Bear Creek Quilting Company offers a flat shipping fee, quick shipping, and every order includes a surprise gift; everyone loves something exciting and free.

Bear Creek Quilting Company offers a huge of cotton, flannel and batik quilting fabric for every quilters taste (from traditional to modern).   You can search for fabric by collection, manufacturer, theme, or even color!  I love using the color search option to find just the print I am looking for.

In addition to the yardage, the shop also sells pre-cut bundles (fat quarters, jelly rolls, charm packs and layer cakes), patterns, books, notions and tools.  They have a wonderful selection of Aurifil thread (my favorite) including an Aurifil thread color card to help perfectly match your thread to faric color.

Some more exciting things Bear Creek Quilting Company offers...

Aurifil Thread Gem Pack of the Month - a 3 spool color collection that launches each 1st of month.

Creative Grids Ruler of the Month + Free Pattern - new combos are announced to our subscribers about the 15th of the month.

Bear Creek Quilting Company is always getting new fabric and notions in stock, in their Coming Soon section you can enter your e-mail address in the listings to be notified when that product becomes available.  And because they have so much fabric coming in, Bear Creek Quilting Company also has an incredible Clearance Section (right now it has over 700 products on clearance!).

🎉 GIVEAWAY! 🎉

** Giveaway now closed, congrats Julie **

Bear Creek Quilting Company has been generous to offer a giveaway of a Something Blue Scrappy Bundle by Andover Fabrics. This is a scrap pack of width of fabric cuts left over from bolt ends and weighs about 4 pounds!  4 pounds of fabric is a lot of fabric!!

Due to shipping costs, this giveaway is limited to only the US and the prizes will be shipped directly from Bear Creek Quilting Company.

The giveaway starts Wednesday, March 6th at 12:30 am and runs through Sunday, March 10th at 8 pm (EST).

To enter, subscribe to the Bear Creek Quilting Company's newsletter (link right here) and leave a comment saying that you subscribe.  Be sure to include your e-mail address if you are a no-reply blogger.

If you are new here, please take a minute to take a look through my mystery quilts (the next mystery quilt, the Mosaic Mystery, will be starting in July), tutorials, and recent finishes.

If you would like to subscribe to the blog you can do so by e-mail or bloglovin.

Sew Tiny Sampler Release Party

You probably have heard of and seen Kitty of Night Quilter's tiny piecing.  She did a 100 day challenge and sewed a block a day and then turned them into the cutest little sampler (the quilt and pictures of the blocks were highlighted in a QuiltCon exhibit last week).

The great news is that Kitty is releasing today a Sew Tiny Sampler pattern today that contains 16 paper pieced tiny blocks and she asked me to help spread the word.  Each block finishes at 1 ¼" square.

The sampler has a bunch of blocks to choose from, but which did I decide on?  The plus signs of course :)

I decided to use some of the new Figo fabric I got from my QuiltCon goodie bag and the Figo booth.  The colors are wonderful.  Because the piecing was so tiny, I was able to use a mini charm square for each block.

I made two regular plus signs and two skinny plus signs and combined them into a pincushion.

You can find the pattern in Kitty's pattern shop, on sale for $10 for the first week (after that it will go up to its regular price of $15).
