Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - July 2021

My big finish for July was the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book hop.  Over 9 days I highlighted all of the quilts from the book as well as 19 version made by hop participants.  After all that, I am planning on stepping back from the computer and social media a little in August and get back to my sewing machine :)

Wrap Up - Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book Hop

I hope that you have enjoyed the blog hop for the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book!  The hop showcased all 18 designs from the book as well as 19 additional quilts.  I want thank all of the blog hop participants for their support and for being a part of the hop!

Day 9 - Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book Hop

We made it to the final day of the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book hop!  Today in this post we will highlighting the last two quilts from the book and seeing some additional makes by the hop participants.  I hope that you have enjoyed the hop!

I will be sharing the Blossom Chains and the Goose in the Pond quilts from the book today. In addition to these quilts, Yvonne from Quilting Jetgirl and Sarah from Sarah Sews will be sharing her version of Ships Ahoy. ABOUT THE BOOK

Each pattern in the book uses a single charm pack, an additional fabric (called fabric A in the pattern) and a background fabric).  The book is the Hamburger Helper for charm packs, stretching one into a full quilt :)

BLOSSOM CHAINS

Blossom Chains uses three different, simple block designs that when combined into the quilt top, create a blossom like effect. My children love the bright rainbow colors of the Sun Print 2020 charm pack, and I felt that a black background would make these colors pop.  Carol's quilting using bright pink was a fun finish to this quilt.

GOOSE IN THE POND

Goose in the Pond is a fun take on the classic Goose in the Pond quilt block. With only four blocks and simple strip piecing, the quilt comes together quickly and easily.  For the first version, I used Canning Day by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics paired with white and Prussian blue fabrics.

Darleen made the second version of Goose in the Pond for the book using Amethyst Garden by

Melissa Lowry for Clothworks along with white and charcoal fabrics.  

YVONNE OF QUILTING JETGIRL - BLOSSOM CHAINS

Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl made the second version of Blossom Chains for the book using a charm pack of Flour Garden by Linzee Kull McCray for Moda Fabrics, Bella solids in white and a background of Shot Cotton in Pool by Kaffe Fassett for FreeSpirit Fabrics.  Yvonne finished the quilt with intersecting spirals.

For most of the quilts featured in this book, the charm squares were be placed to get an even distribution of colors and prints across the quilt top.  Yvonne placed the charm squares strategically so that the colors of the charm squares are in set locations in the quilt top. This provides a different and interesting look to the quilt.

SARAH OF SARAH SEWS - SHIPS AHOY

Sarah of Sarah Sews made a beautiful version of Ships Ahoy. She has been a quilter for about 15 years and has recently explored quilt design and pattern writing. She is obsessed with big quilt blocks, bright colors and combining them with smaller units to look for secondary patterns. I love how she made the pattern her own by adding some additional blocks to make the quilt a little larger.

Sarah used a charm pack from Ruby Star and her stash to make the quilt and walking foot quilting to accent the blocks with an X. Visit Sarah's Facebook page and Instagram to see the full reveal.

Day 8 - Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book Hop

Welcome to the 8th day of the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book hop!  It is also my birthday today :)

As the blog hop is winding down, I hope that you have enjoyed seeing all of the quilts and learning more about the patterns.

COIN FLIP

Coin Flip is a very beginner-friendly design. It is a cross between a coin quilt and piano key design. With only nine blocks, it sews up swiftly and is ready for quilting in no time.  This quilt showcases the Stellar collection by Rashida Coleman-Hale from Ruby Star Society for Moda Fabrics.  A quick stipple quilting design finished the quilt.

Travis made the second version of Coin Flip for the book. I created the charm pack for this version based on the pink and black plaid print (by Densye Schmidt) in the quilt top. Travis used straight line outline quilting for this quilt. You can find Travis on Instagram @travlis.

CHARMING STRIPES 

Charming Stripes is another beginner friendly pattern in the book that sews up super quick with virtually no seams to match.  For this quilt, I used one of my favorite charm packs that I have been saving in my stash for years, Reunion by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics.  I am so happy the prints are now in a quilt :)

The second version of Charm Stripes used various Carolyn Friedlander prints for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  Carol added quilting that looked like topography to mimic some of the print designs.

IZZY FROM DIZZY QUILTS - NINE-PATCH CHALLENGE 

Izzy of Dizzy Quilts made a version of Nine-Patch Challenge for the hop. She used an old charm pack from Fig Tree and Co (Honeysweet) along with Kona Titanium and Kona Lingerie. Izzy said that she feels that the quilt has almost a vintage look and I agree, it is beautiful! This is just a sneak peek so please head over to Izzy's blog and Instagram for the full reveal.

 

JULIE FROM THE CRAFTY QUILTER - BOWTIE

Julie from the Crafty Quilter made a version of Bowtie for the book hop. Julie used a charm pack of On The Go by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics, Moda Grunge (#30150) for the background and a gray Kona solid.

Julie's blog contains a wealth of quilting instruction with Julie being so generous with her knowledge and time.  Her tutorials are so well done.  Here is just a sneak peek of her quilt, hop over to her blog and Instagram to see the full quilt.

Day 7 - Just One Charm Pack Quilts Book Hop

Welcome to the 7th day of the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book hop!  I hope that you are enjoying a more in depth look at each of the book quilts and are loving seeing how others are putting their personal spins and touches on the designs.  

Today, I will be sharing the One-Eyed Monster and the Baskets quilts from the book.  In addition to these quilts, Katherine will be sharing her version of Ships Ahoy and Heather will be sharing her Cat's Eye quilt.

ONE-EYED MONSTER

One-Eyed Monster was the first quilt I finished for the book, way before I ever submitted the book proposal to Stash.  The design uses hourglass shapes and a little square shape for fun block that reminded me of cute little monster.  I created my own charm pack for this quilt by cutting 5" squares from blues and green fabrics from my scrap bin.  I finished the quilt with a small scale bear claw quilting design.

Delia of Willowlark Quilt Studio made and quilted the second version of One-Eyed Monster for the book using Crescent by Sarah Watts from Ruby Star Society for Moda Fabrics and a tangerine solid for the "eye".  I think that this version has more of a floral feel to it which is beautiful and I love the quilting design Delia used.

BASKETS

Baskets comes together easily using half-square triangles and squares pieced together in four large blocks. In this version, the Basket blocks are oriented in a circle, but you could change them to all face inward, outward, or in the same direction for a different look. This first version of Baskets used Desert Bloom by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics.

Ruth made the second version of Baskets for the book using Lollipop Garden by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics with Moda Solids in Eggplant for the pot.  Carol did the quilting on both versions of Baskets.

KATHERINE OF SEW ME SOMETHING GOOD - SHIPS AHOY

Katherine of Sew Me Something Good is the queen of scrappy goodness.  She can combine so many prints and colors together and get a cohesive and beautiful composition (whereas I would have just wound up with a messy, disjointed looking quilt).  She applied her scrappy magic to Ships Ahoy, check out her blog and Instagram for the full reveal.

HEATHER OF QUILTACHUSETTS - CAT'S EYE

Heather of Quiltachusetts is an amazing quilter, quilt pattern designer, fabric designer, and fellow Stash author.  I am always excited to see her in person at QuiltCon and love following along with her new patterns and wonderful longarm quilting on Instagram.  Check out this sneak peak of Cat's Eye she made using her Road Trip fabric collection for Paintbrush Studios and hop over to her blog for the full reveal.
