ABOUT THE DESIGN

The Olive and Hazel quilt pattern is a twist on the classic Bradford 9-patch block. This throw-sized quilt pattern is sure to capture the imagination of quilters at the intermediate level and beyond.

Whether you're a seasoned quilting pro or have a few quilts under your belt, the Olive and Hazel quilt pattern is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a challenging yet rewarding project. With its eye-catching design and thoughtful attention to detail, this pattern is sure to become a beloved addition to your quilting repertoire.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

I wanted to use up some of my stash for this quilt so I picked some of my favorite bright fabrics.  The prints are from many different manufacturers and are from recently purchased to aged like fine wine for half a decade :)

I used Bella Solids in American Blue (just a touch lighter than a navy with a little gray in it) for both the background and the binding.

Here is Turtle "helping" with my blocks.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

For the quilting, because of the prints, bright colors, and darker background, I wanted to go with an allover quilting design.  I tend to stick with a rotation of my favorite 3 or 4 quilting designs, but really wanted to try something new with this quilt.

I used an echoing leaf motif on my domestic quilting machine.  It was similar to a paisley type design but with a point at the top.  I wound up quilting the quilt a little more densely than I usually do.

For the thread, I used a medium/dark gray Auriful 50 wt thread on the top thread and bobbin.  I really like the look of the thread against the dark navy backing.

PATTERN DETAILS

The Olive and Hazel quilt pattern is for a throw-sized quilt (about 55 ½" x 68") made with quarter yard cuts and a background fabric.  If you prefer working with fat quarters, twice as many strip sets will be used, each measuring approximately 20" long rather than 40" long.

This pattern is perfect for a confident beginner / intermediate quilter, the blocks are easy to assemble and then placed on point.

The pattern is on sale in my pattern shop and on Etsy at a special introductory price of $10 now through Monday, March 6th (midnight ET).  Once you make an Olive and Hazel quilt of your own, you can share it via social media using the hashtag #OliveHazelQuilt.

In both my pattern shop and Etsy, you can combine this intro sale price with an additional coupon for more savings. Use the code "TWOPATTERNS" for $2 off 2 patterns and "THREEPATTERNS" for $4 off 3 patterns.
