 Let's Quilt Along!

Over on the Facebook Group I asked if there was any interest in doing a mini, more casual quilt along between the Macaron Mystery quilt and the next mystery quilt (kicking off in July).  The poll was a resounding yes and respondents voted to make a quilt from the Just One Charm Pack Quilts book.

There were three patterns from the book right at the top of the number of votes so this quilt along is going to focus on those three: Blossom Chains, Medallion, and Star Surround.  But this is a super fun quilt along so if you would like to make one of the other patterns from the book, go for it :)

Once again, if you would like to join in using one of the other book patterns, that is fine too!!  Or if you can't decide between two quilts, you can make them both :)

So we have about 2 weeks to gather fabric (and the book if you need it) and then we will sew the quilt over about a month.  At the official kick off I will be posting an approximate cutting/piecing schedule for each of the three patterns.

I have had a number of inquires from guilds about my mystery quilts in recent weeks so I thought that I would write a post answering some frequently asked questions and highlighting all of my mystery quilts available ...

Mystery Quilt FAQ

1.  Can our guild use one of your mystery quilt patterns?  
Yes!!  I would love for your guild to use one of my mystery quilts as a quilt along for your group!  You can run the quilt along as a mystery quilt or you can share the quilt design at the start of the quilt along for a regular quilt along.


2.  Where can I find the mystery quilt patterns?
You can find all of the information and instructions about each mystery quilt in the Quilt Along tab above.


3.  What is the cost for our guild to use one of your mystery quilts?  
Free!  All of the pattern instructions for the mystery quilt are in posts that you can get to from the Quilt Along tab.  If you would instead like a more easy-to-print version of the pattern, I have a pdf of the entire pattern listed in my Etsy shop for $10.


4.  If I purchase the pdf of the mystery quilt from your Etsy shop, do I need to purchase a copy for each participant?
No :)  You only need to purchase 1 copy of the pdf version of the mystery quilt for your entire guild.  You are allowed to make as many copies of the pattern as needed and to e-mail the pattern to participants.  I only ask that the pattern is not published on a website (like a guild blog or web page).

Wayward Transparency - my fabrics

Have you seen the new quilt along that Yvonne just started over on her blog, Quilting Jetgirl?  Yvonne creates amazing quilts with a transparency effect and Wayward Transparency is one of my favorites she has created.

The Wayward Transparency is a free quilt along with monthly directions and plenty of different options for laying quilt top.

The quilt top uses 3 different fabric so I went shopping in my stash to see what I had that would work.  Here is what I decided to use:

Fabric A - Free Spirit Solids in Yellow
Fabric B - Kaffe Fassett - Shot Cotton in Clementine
Fabric C - Kona Cotton in Lipstick

These colors are a bit of a departure for me, I have never made a quilt with a bright yellow background, but hopefully they will look good in the quilt :)

The Fabric B is a cross-weave of red and yellow (the warps of the fabric are yellow and the wefts are red) giving the fabric an overall orange look.
