November - Slice & Stitch Challenge

I had the privilege of taking part in November's Slice & Stitch Challenge hosted by OLFA and Aurifil.  In each challenge, one Aurifil Artisan is paired with one OLFA Creator / Ambassador and given a OLFA and Aurifil product to make a project out out.

I was so excited to be paired with Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl, one of my best quilting friends.  We even wound up both making reverse applique pillows (without talking to each other)!

For the Slice & Stitch Challenge, we were given OLFA scissors and Aurifil 12 wt thread.  I made a raw edge applique, snowflake pillow using the products.  I have needed some new Christmas pillows and this was the perfect excuse to make one :)

You can hop over to the Auribuzz blog to get the quick tutorial and see more pictures of the finished product and make sure to visit Yvonne and see her tutorial and finished pillow too.

Free Quilt Pattern ++ Rock and Roll Baby Quilt

Hi Everyone! As an OLFA Creator, I had the opportunity to create a new tutorial for the OLFA blog for June and I am happy to be able to share it with you!

**Update** When the OLFA blog was relaunched, this and many other tutorials were lost so I have republished the tutorial for the Rock & Roll Baby Quilt on my blog right here.

My good friends were going a baby boy due in a few months (they actually had him early last week!) and I wanted to make them a fun baby quilt for their shower.

Rock & Roll is very beginner friendly and a great way to use up scraps using the two at a time half square triangle technique. The blocks form X’s and O’s for lots of hugs and kisses.

The finished quilt measures 40 1/2″ x 52 1/2″. I used straight lines in the pieced sections and an open swirl design in the background. Aurifil 50wt thread in a light gray/blue to matched the background fabric and blended in great with all of the prints.

I hope you give the pattern a try!

OLFA sent me some wonderful new rulers, cutters, and more that you will be seeing soon in some new tutorials and works in progress.

You can follow along and find each month's tutorial over on the OLFA blog and here are the OLFA Creators and Ambassadors for 2019.
