Sycamore Canyon Pattern Release

It's pattern release day!  Sycamore Canyon is now available (with a limited time intro price):

Sycamore Canyon is a throw-sized, confident beginner / intermediate level quilt design based on the traditional Lake of the Lake quilt block.

If you love half square triangles (HST), then this quilt is for you!  Once the HSTs are complete, the quilt goes together quickly with oversized blocks.

The pattern is written for fat quarters or 3/4 yard cuts and looks great in a variety of prints.

I have some kits mocked up towards the bottom of this post so you can see how the quilt looks in different colorways.

FABRICS & MATERIALS

Don't the colors pop in the quilt?  The prints are from the Deco Glo collection by Giucy Giuce for Andover Fabrics with Century Solids in Black for the background.

I used my favorite Warm & White batting by the Warm Company and dark gray 50 wt Aurifil thread for the quilting.

A fun Century Solids in Cranberry is the backing and one of the black Deco Glo prints was used as the binding.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

I wanted to pick a quilting design that added texture but did not away from the piecing or bright prints.  I went with a dark gray thread because I felt it blended the best with all of the colors.  A large meander (also called a stipple) was quick and easy.

PATTERN DETAILS

Sycamore Canyon is a fat quarter and 3/4 yard cut friendly pattern.  The throw sized pattern is a confident beginner to intermediate pattern.  There are a lot of half square triangles to make, but after they are finished, the quilt quickly sews together.

The pattern is on sale in my pattern shop as a digital pattern at a special introductory price of $9.98 now through Monday, September 26th (midnight ET).  Once you make a Sycamore Canyon quilt of your own, you can share it via social media using the hashtag #SycamoreCanyonQuilt.

In both my pattern shop (digital and print versions) and Etsy (digital version), you can combine this intro sale price with an additional coupon for more savings. Use the code "TWOPATTERNS" for $2 off 2 patterns and "THREEPATTERNS" for $4 off 3 patterns.

MANY THANKS

I would like to thank Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl for her amazing tech editing skills and quilting ideas and to the entire Quilt Theory team.  I would also like to thank Andover Fabrics for the fabric, the Warm Company for the Warm & White batting (my favorite!), and Aurifil for the thread.

KITS

I mocked up some different ideas for different Sycamore Canyon colorways using fat quarter bundles I found in the Fat Quarter Shop. If you would like any of these colorways, you can create your own "kit" by clicking the links to the individual fabrics / bundles and adding the amounts of each to your cart (links are affiliate links).

Most of the fat quarter bundles have more than the 15 fat quarters necessary for the quilt top.  You can use the extra fat quarters for the backing and/or binding of the quilt.
