2016 Goals

Now that I have wrapped up 2015 (go check out all of the wonderful Best of 2015 posts from oodles of bloggers on the linky party here) I am happy to start planning and link up my 2016 goals with Yvonne over at Quilting Jetgirl.

I love the way Yvonne breaks her goals into shorter term with clear deliverables and longer term, big picture goals and so I am going to shamelessly copy her classification system.

I must admit that seeing my goals here in black and white is a little frightening but also empowering in a way.  As I am presented with new opportunities or planning out my quilting time in the new year, I will able to refer back to these goals to keep my priorities in order. (And I admit that I totally love check lists!)

2016 Goals with Clear Deliverables
  • Develop and publish the Pattern Writing Blog Series
  • Design and host the 2016-17 mystery quilt
  • Submit a book proposal
  • Co-host the 2016 New Quilt Blogger’s Blog Hop
  • Make at least two charity quilts
  • Develop at least 3 new quilt patterns for sale
  • Post at least 4 tutorials
  • Take at least one multiple week long blogging vacation
  • Host the Best of 2016 Linky Party (I have had such fun with the 2015 linky party!)

2016 Big Picture Goals
  • Continue my journey on growing as a quilter by learning new techniques and moving outside of my comfort zone.
  • Strive for balance – balance between being a mother and a quilter, between computer time and quilting time, between quilting for “work” and quilting simply for fun.
  • Work at carefully analyzing each opportunity I am presented with and have the courage to say no to the things that do not align with my vision, goals, and time restraints.
  • Become more organized

  2. Wonderful to list goals and keep track! The planner looks great for the year ahead with my newly diagnosed health issues and many quilts to finish between Dr. appointments! I have already felt well enough to finish some WIPs and have a new found optimism about life ahead. I love your moda bakeshop quilt patterns!

  4. You do have some big goals for 2016, Cheryl, but I think that just means you are set up to have a wonderful year! I think the hardest part I have found (so far) is saying no to opportunities that don't align. Thank you so much for linking up, and I hope you have a very Happy New Year.

  10. I think that these are wonderful goals for 2016 and cannot wait to see you accomplish them! Finding balance is the key. I struggle with it. It seems like just when I have things leveled out, there is something that is not getting the attention it should.

  15. I like how Yvonne did her goals too, breaking it up into big picture goals and more detailed goals was a great idea. I struggle with keeping work, play, family, and everything else balanced, it's such a fine line to be walked sometimes. I'm signed up, thanks for the giveaway!

  22. I really like the way Yvonne set up her goals, although it makes me shiver a little as I recall this very system for our yearly goals when I was a schoolteacher...lol I especially like your striving for balance, and your multiple week blogging vacation (at least one!). I already signed up on Stephanie's newsletter mailing list.

  23. I've signed up for the newsletter. This planner looks awesome to use, as I run my life off of lists, but to have them in one place, plus where all my quilt projects in the same book is even better, and a space to jot down quilt ideas while at work, and draw things out is even better! Thanks for the great opportunity!

  39. Hi...I just signed up for the Stephanie's newsletter...so hope I win. My "word" for 2016 is ORDER. I have been in a total state of emotional chaos and physical paralysis the last year and a half....all is totally disorganized and out of whack. As an only child I lost both parents within a 6 day span and I've not handled it well. My goal for 2016 is to get my life back...and I need every tool I can find. Thanks so much for a chance to win.

  40. I am already signed up for Stephanie's newsletters. I love the look of her planner. Would love to have one. Have mixed feelings about setting too many goals. Like short term ones that I can update weekly and perhaps build to a larger goal. Congrats on your comprehensive list.

  47. Writing out goals is both terrifying and empowering, if I've learned anything this past year though it's that the scary stuff is what will always pay off the best if you push yourself to move through it. It's been so wonderful getting to know you this year Cheryl :) PS if I win please choose another winner; I have my planner and would love for someone who doesn't yet have one to have an opportunity to check it out!
