I am so excited to have a block called Outlined Plus in Volume 11 of the 100 Blocks magazine. (I previously had my block Sewing Triangles included in Volume 10.)
I have a little obsession with plus sign blocks, they are so classic and versatile and thought this block was a cool spin on the concept. I had a little fun playing around in EQ7 playing around with some quilt designs to give you some ideas on how the block would look in different arrangements and colors.

I have two "commissioned" quilts up next (my daughter asked me to make them for her girl's rooms). They are Frolic by Allison at Cluck, Cluck Sew using Everything but the Kitchen Sink fabric, and a Summer in the Park from Missouri Star using Miss Kate from Moda. They will be done for the 4th of July when my family comes to visit.

I also have 7 charity quilts tops that are ready to be basted and quilted and two baby quilts for friends. ReplyDeleteGreat and versatile block -- I really loved al the fabric choices you made for all the alternate colorways. I'm still trying to get into the "modern quilt" style so I'd love to try making one like that this year. As with your quilts, the fabric is an important element so I really need to focus on finding the right mix to start.

ReplyDeleteChristmas quilt with 60 wonky stars with red background that I won in the Block Lotto 2 years ago. I'll be using green to make columns to join them. A week from Saturday I'll have a whole day to sew (except for a hair appointment), so I hope to finish the top that day . (a little yard work must be done too).
I have two projects to "finish" before I can start another--Amy Gibson's Sampler Quilt from Craftsy and a Christmas wall hanging.

ReplyDeleteI have many quilts in progress and in the planning stages. One I'd like to do is the scrappy trip around the world. I know I'm way behind that trend, but I think it will be loads of fun to piece and quilt.
ReplyDeleteHow about a quilt I will actually finish-its to replace a whole cloth tied quilt my grandmother made that is fading. It covers a twin bed that my granddaughters sleep in when they stay with us. I have started said quilt, its partially sewn together and hopefully will be done before school is out!

I'm new to quilting and am just about to attempt my first quilt. It will be for my nephew and I'm going to start with an easy one - just lots of 6inch blocks and plan to quilt with diagonal lines in each box. ReplyDeleteLove the plus sign! When the kids were young I had a "sick quilt". The ONLY time anyone got to use it was when they were sick -- so it became something very comforting and you knew you were sick when you got to use it! The tradition carried on and is now with the oldest who has a son of her own! That plus sign would be great with red and white -- truly a Red Cross quilt! :-)
