Best of 2025 Linky Party Coming Soon

It is no secret that I love blog link parties.  One of the main reasons I started my blog was so that I could take part in the sharing of knowledge and inspiration through the parties and so I am very excited to announce that I am hosting my eleventh annual blog linky party, the Best of 2025 Linky Party!

To take part in the link party, simply write a new blog post highlighting your "best" 5 posts from 2025 and linkup.  There is no set way or rules to pick your best, you can pick and highlight your posts anyway you would like.  Some examples include:
  • Posts with the most views
  • Posts with the most comments
  • Posts that provoked the best discussions
  • Posts showing your favorite finishes
  • Posts of your best tutorials
  • Posts that are simply your favorites
This post is not only a great way to find new readers, it is also wonderful to be able to highlight some of your best posts for those readers who have joined your blog throughout the year.

**Instagram Linkup - I know that a lot of quilters are not bloggers or are not blogging as actively so instead of linking up a blog post, you are welcome to link up your favorite Instagram post of 2024.
This link needs to be done through the computer, not mobile.  Here are some instructions on how to link up an Instagram post.**

The link party will open the day after Christmas on Friday, December 26th and will be open for one week ending on Friday, January 2nd.

While you are waiting for this linky party to start up, you can take a look through the Best of 2015-2024.  Thanks!

Magnificent Mystery Quilt ++ Part 6 ++ Flower Units

Welcome to the December instructions for the Magnificent Mystery Quilt Along!

I can't believe that it is almost the end of 2025! This year has flown by. December tends to be a busy month so I kept the instructions for this month a little quicker.

The Magnificent Mystery Quilt is a free quilt-along that runs from July 2025 through April 2026 to make a throw sized quilt about 60 ½" x 72 ½" with a set of instructions posted the first Thursday of every month.  The quilt pattern is at an advanced beginner level containing basic piecing techniques (no applique, Y-seams, or paper piecing).

Easy to Print PDF Instructions

If you would like easy to print instructions for the November instructions: Part 5, they can found as a free download through my shop:

Half-Square Triangle (HST) Units

1. Place a fabric C square 3" x 3" and a bg square 3" x 3" right sides together (or 3 ¼" x 3 ¼" squares if they were oversized).

Draw a diagonal line using a removable marking device on the back of the lighter fabric square (shown as the solid line).

2. Sew a ¼" seam on either side of the solid line (shown as the dotted lines). Cut on the marked line and press seams toward the darker fabric.

3. Trim each HST unit to 2 ½" x 2 ½".

4. Repeat to make a total of 120 HST units.

Flower Units

1. Arrange the following units and pieces according to the illustration.
2 HST units 2 ½" x 2 ½"
1 fabric B square 2 ½" x 2 ½"
1 bg square 2 ½" x 2 ½"

2. Sew together the units into rows, pressing the seams away from the HST units. Then sew the
rows together, pressing the seams open, to make a flower unit 4 ½" x 4 ½".

3. Repeat to make a total of 60 flower units.
