Splendid Sampler 2 Starts Today!

I am happy to announce the start of the Splendid Sampler 2 today!  I am honored to have a block in the book and am excited to quilt along with the Splendid Sampler 2.

The Splendid Sampler 2 will be similar to the Splendid Sampler, with 100 blocks that are 6" finished. You can combine blocks from both samplers in your quilt.

The actual book is not available until the fall so to kick off the quilt along, the Splendid Sampler 2 will be sharing a free block once a week until the book launch. (though you can pre-order the book here - affiliate link).

The first free block is by Alex Veronelli of Aurifil called Quilt Market. You can find the pattern for the free 6" block right here on the Splendid Sampler website.

For my blocks I am planning on using some of my Bonnie and Camille fabrics from a bunch of collections, focusing on the pink, red, aqua, and orange prints.

I will not be able to make all of the blocks, but I think that my plan is going to be to use the sampler blocks as the "charm squares" in a setting similar to my Broken Frames pattern.

Here’s the full schedule:
  • June 14 – Sew Along starts with one block a week on Thursdays
  • Nov 1 – the 20th block is given out
  • Dec 6 – we start sewing from the book with blocks weekly.
  • May 2 is the planned end date. So it’s a full year of fun!
You can pre-order your copy of The Splendid Sampler 2 or get your copy of the original Splendid Sampler right now (affiliate links).

  1. Just a comment to start things off and to get notifications on comments (until blogger fixes its comment issues)

  2. I love the fabrics and color palette you are sewing with, and your plan for setting the blocks you piece is brilliant. I look forward to seeing your block design!

  3. Cheryl, this is going to be a fun sew along.
    I love those colors.

  4. Looks like a fun QAL. A bock a week is not for me - I know I wouldn't be able to do that. But I like your idea of only making some of the blocks. Always hard to draw the line and be reasonable with expectations. Yours will be really pretty with the colors you are using. Have fun and I look forward to seeing your blocks. :-)

  5. Your color selection is going to make a very pretty quilt. I'm going to try to make some. I don’t have a very good history of sticking with BOMs and QALs and the like, but I’m sure I can do something fun with whatever I accomplish. Now it’s just a matter of deciding on fabric.

  6. Great idea using the blocks in your Broken Frame quilt design! That will be so pretty!

  7. Just love your fabrics! Gotta check out the free patterns this year. :-)

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment!
