Best Wishes Quilt Runner - Free Pattern for Camelot Fabrics

I am happy to introduce my second quilt pattern for Camelot Fabrics called the Best Wishes Table Runner which is now available as a free download on Camelot's website here.

The quilt pattern is a modern take on a classic quilt block, and is shown using the Paisley Please by JACK!E for Camelot Fabrics.  By adding some more blocks, you could easily make this pattern into a baby, lap, or bed quilt.

Foothills Mystery Quilt - November Instructions

Welcome to the November instructions for the Foothills Mystery Quilt-a-long! The instructions for previous months can be found in the Foothills Mystery Quilt tab above.  The monthly instructions will be posted on the first Thursday of each month.

** In addition to the flicker group Meadow Mist Designs, we have a hashtag.  When you post pictures on instragram please use #FoothillsMystery so that everyone can see your progress :)

And now onto November's instructions, we will be making 12 Diamond Blocks (12½” x 12½”) using some of the HSTs from September and the Square in a Square blocks from October.

Diamond Blocks

Using 96 HST units (3½” x 3½”), 12 Square in a Square (SiaS) units (6½” x 6½”), and 48 fabric set B squares (3½” x 3½”), form 12 diamond blocks.

A. Sew 96 HST units into 48 double HST units (3½” x 6½”).

B.  Using 1 SiaS unit, 4 double HST units, and 4 fabric set B squares, arrange as shown below.

C.  Sew units into rows, pressing seams open.

D.  Sew rows together to form blocks, pressing seams open.  Repeat to form a total of 12 diamond blocks (12½” x 12½”).

A Lovely Year of Finishes - November Goal

I started the year off really well, setting and reaching my A Lovely Year of Finishes the first few months of the year but then I fell off the wagon.  I am hopping back on this month with the goal of finishing my lap size version of Looking Glass.

I am making the lap version of Looking Glass using some of the red and pink colorway of Greenfield Hill by Denyse Schmidt to test an additional size quilt for my pattern.  The quilt will be a charity quilt for my local quilt guild.

This are not really my go to colors, I tend to gravitate more towards the truer, less muddy colors, but I hope that once the quilt is all put together I like the color scheme a bit better.

Right now I have finished the blocks and now I have to sew the blocks together, add the sashing, bast, quilt, and bind the quilt.

Pike's Peak in Make Modern Issue #2

I have the honor of having a quilt called Pike's Peak in Issue #2 of the new quilt magazine Make Modern out of Australia.

With all of the negative space the quilt came together pretty quickly and allowed for some great quilting.  You can get the issue right here.

Check Plus in Quilty Magazine

Way back in May, the blog went a little quiet because I was working on some secret sewing.  

I am happy to be able to introduce, Check Plus, a lap sized quilt for November/December 2014 issue of Quilty Magazine (The pattern may also be downloaded as a stand alone pattern from Quilty here).  

This is my first quilt published in a magazine so I am very excited!

Check Plus is a fun, beginner friendly plus in a plus quilt using some of the prints from April Showers by Bonnie and Camille for Moda on a background of Kona Snow.  

I quilted Check Plus in a diagonal pattern and finished off the quilt with a diagonal striped binding.

I made a fun pieced backing for the quilt using one plus block and some Kona Fog.  I think that I might actually like the back better than the front :)
