Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - October 2021

Happy Halloween!  I wish you good trick or treating weather and plenty of candy if you are participating.  As my kids are getting older, I think that this might be one of my last years to go around with them.  

I have always wanted a Halloween quilt and my favorite finish for this month is a Halloween version of Swamp Rabbit Trail (pattern to be released soon).  This is the alternative layout of the blocks and I thought they looked a little like witches hats :)  I used my Sweet and Spooky (and Sweeter and Spookier) from Art Gallery fat quarters I have been collecting and then even used an included panel and fat quarters to piece a backing.

My favorite finish for the month of September was my FreeSpirit collaboration and in particular, the Raindrops quilt.  FreeSpirit was amazing to work with and designing quilts using Tula Pink's fabrics was such fun.  I picked Raindrops for this month because of its background color.  I am not normally a purple person, but this purple is such a cool color.

I thought that in honor of the Just One Charm Pack Quilts, I would share one of my favorite quilts from the book. 

Here is Ninja, one of the very beginner friendly patterns from the book. I used a charm pack of Flower Shop by Patty Sloniger for Michael Miller Fabrics paired with Moda Bella solids in white (fabric A) and frost (background) for this quilt. I love the bright happy colors of this quilt and the swirl quilting that Carol Alperin quilted on it.

Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - May 2020

Another month has passed, I hope that everyone is safe and doing well.  

This month marked two important events for me:

1.  I now have a teenager!  My son turned 13 in early May.  I can't believe that he has gotten so old.  

2.  I mailed off the 36 quilts for my book!  I made 20 of the quilts and local quilters made 16.  I had a lot of help from Carol Alperin who did the quilting on about half of the quilts. I never would have been able to make the deadline otherwise.

Here are 36 quilts all boxed up and ready to mail.  The 3 boxes together weighed just under 75 pounds.

Working and schooling from home in April has not only made the days start to blend together, but the weeks as well now.  I can't believe that this is the end of the month already.  I hope that everyone is healthy and staying safe.

My monthly finish for April is an exciting one, but one I can't show pictures of yet.  I just finished the manuscript for my next book with Stash Publications!  Thousands of words and hundreds of illustrations are finished and it feels great to be able to step away from the computer for a bit and finish up the dozens of quilts for the book.

Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - March 2020

Welcome to March's Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup!

March has been crazy and I am not sad to see it go.  I am now working from home and my two kids are e-learning.  We are all settling into our new routines and trying to stay safe and healthy.

My favorite finish for this month was a Wide Open Pouch by Noodlehead for my mother.  March's challenge for Aurifil Artisans was to use Kaffe fabric and Kantha stitching (big stitch hand quilting without marking lines).

I used my only piece of Kaffe I own along with a bunch of different colored 12 wt Aurifil threads and stitched away.  Once I finished the hand quilting, I cut up the fabric and had the pouch made pretty quickly (Noodlehead's patterns are always wonderful).  Now to get the pouch in the mail :)

My favorite finish for November was my Camden Road quilt.  My friend Cindy of Hyacinth Quilts helped me with the fabric pull for this quilt and I am in love with it.  As soon as the pictures were taken, this quilt went onto my couch for some snuggling.

My favorite finish for July is my Disappearing Oranges quilt I made as the July pattern of the month for the Modern Quilt Guild.  I created the design using my Subtracting for Minimalism technique (that I will be teaching again at QuiltCon this February).  The pattern is free to all MQG members and can be found here on the MQG website.
