2016 New Quilt Bloggers Hop - Reminder and Edit

(I'm still on my bloggie vacation, but I wanted to update you quickly on the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Hop)

Yvonne, Stephanie, and I have heard from so many new bloggers who would like to join our New Bloggers mentoring program, but don’t completely fall into the “modern”category… So we have decided the more the merrier and are now opening the registration to bloggers who quilt in any and every style!

If you have been blogging for 2 years and 1 month, please sign up. If we receive more than 100 sign ups, we will use age of blog as one of the first down select criteria. However, if you have been blogging for 3+ years and are looking for how to increase your readership, we recommend several Facebook groups:

Late Night Quilters Club 

Craft Your Blog

Periscope Craftroomies

If you are not yet writing 4 posts a month, we hope you will be by the end of the hop and are now asking that you are an active blogger (you do need to have your blog set up and have spent some time getting to know your platform of choice).

The group discussions are where the meat and heart of the event take place, so having a Facebook account is a must for participation.

2016 New Quilt Bloggers Participation / Sign Up Criteria

The technical criteria to participate in the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop is as follows:

1. If you have been blogging mainly about modern quilting (modern quilting to you is modern quilting to us.),
2. for less than 2 3 years,
3. writing at least 4 posts a month are an active blogger,
4. are willing to agree to be actively involved in the blog hop through visiting and commenting on the other blogger’s hop posts,
5. and have or are willing to open a Facebook account to participate in the group discussions.

I hope this convinces some more new bloggers to join in!

Bloggie Vacation

I just wanted to bop in quickly today to let you know that I am taking a long overdue blogcation for the next month or so.  It will be great to take a little break from social media to recharge my blogging battery after finishing up the recent Midnight Mystery Quilt, Pattern Writing Workshop Series, and the Paintbrush Studio New Block Hop.

Don't worry, I will still be busy quilting behind the scenes, getting the next mystery quilt set, doing some secret sewing, and prepping for the 2016 New Quilt Blogger's Blog Hop.  I'll see you in a few weeks!

2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop – Registration Open!

Today I am very excited to announce the opening of registration for the 5th annual 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop!  I am co-hosting again this year with my wonderful quilting friends Yvonne @QuiltingJetgirl and Stephanie @Late Night Quilter. 

The goal of the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop is to provide advice, tech help, and introduce new modern quilters to the online community. In fact, it was because we each participated in the 2014 event that Yvonne, Stephanie, and I met :)

2016 New Quilt Bloggers Participation / Sign Up Criteria

The technical criteria to participate in the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop is as follows:

1. blogging mainly about modern quilting (modern quilting to you is modern quilting to us.),
2. blogging for less than 2 years,
3. writing at least 4 posts a month,
4. are willing to agree to be actively involved in the blog hop through visiting and commenting on the other blogger’s hop posts,
5. and have or are willing to open a Facebook account to participate in the group discussions.

Please indicate your interest in joining by filling out this registration form.

Additional Details

• Note that you will not receive email confirmation until the end of April at the earliest.
• We will accept 100 participants for the blog hop this year. The sign up form will be available until April 30th, 2016, or until we reach 100 participants.
• Participation in the blog hop will consist of a significant time commitment. We believe that the more time you can dedicate to the blog hop, the more you will get out of it.
• Tentative Schedule
  • End of April / Early May: Welcome participants via E-mail and get everyone into the Closed Facebook group.
  • May: Get to know one another through a series of weekly planned prompts through the Facebook group.
  • May: Optional structured blog critique groups will be conducted.
  • June: First half (2 weeks) of blog hop.
  • July: Second half (2 weeks) of blog hop.
