Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - November 2021

Welcome to November's Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup!

November has been a crazy busy month for me, finishing up quilts for this year, getting prepared for QuiltCon 2022, and planning for next year.  I actually finished 3 quilts this month but the weather and the time change have meant that I have not photographed them yet.  I promise they are coming :)

Ready for the party?

Here is a reminder of the party details:
  • The linky party will open at 12:01am EST on the last day of the month and will be open for 5 days, through the 4th at 11:59 pm EST.
  • For instructions on how to link up blog, Instagram, or pictures from your computer (new - there is now a way to just upload a picture without a web link) to the party, click here.
  • If linking a blog post, I ask that you please add a link back to the party.
  • Please visit at least 3 other links (and preferably leave comments) to share the love and celebration :)

I hope you join in by checking out the posts or linking your favorite finish of the month!

Macaron Mystery ++ More Flying Geese Units

Let's make some (more) flying geese :)

Welcome to the fourth month of instructions for the Macaron Mystery Quilt!  This month we will be making more flying geese units.  I am sorry for back to back months of flying geese, but I promise it will be worth it.

There is plenty of time to join in on the quilt along, we are just getting started!  You can find all of the information about the Macaron Mystery, including schedule, past instructions, links to the Facebook group, sneak peek, and more at the Macaron Mystery Page.

The Macaron Mystery Quilt is a lap sized, free quilt-along that will run from July 2021 through April 2022 with a set of directions revealed the first Thursday of every month.

Now that the Macaron Mystery quilt along has ended,
you can find a easy to print, full version of the Macaron Mystery
pattern for sale in my pattern shop.

    Flying Geese Units

    Combine 15 fabric C squares 5 ¼" x 5 ¼" and 60 Bg1 squares 2 ⅞" x 2 ⅞" to make 60 C/Bg1 flying geese units 2 ½" x 4 ½" using the No Waste Flying Geese method.

    1.  Place 2 of the Bg1 squares 2 ⅞" x 2 ⅞" on opposite corners of a Fabric C square 5 ¼" x 5 ¼" right sides together.  The Bg1 squares will overlap in the middle of the Fabric C square.  Use a removable marking device to make a line diagonally across the Bg1 squares (solid line).

    2.  Sew a scant ¼" seam on both sides of the marked line (dotted lines) and then cut on the marked line (solid line).

    3.  Press the seams towards the Bg1 squares. You will have two of these intermediate units.  For each intermediate unit, place a Bg1 square 2 ⅞" x 2 ⅞" on the corner of the fabric C square right sides together.  Draw a diagonal line on the Bg1 square (solid line) and sew a scant ¼" on both sides of the marked line (dotted lines).

    4.  Cut on the marked line (solid line) and press the seams towards the Bg1 squares.  Each set of 1 fabric C square and 4 Bg1 squares will yield 4 C/Bg1 flying geese.

    5. Repeat steps 1-4 to make a total of 60 C/Bg1 flying geese units.  Cut off tabs (also known as dog ears) and trim blocks to 2 ½" x 4 ½" if necessary, making sure there is ¼" between the point of the goose triangle and the edge of the unit.

Many thanks to the generous sponsors of the Macaron Mystery Quilt!
