NEW PATTERN ENGLISH TRELLIS USING MORRISON PARK FABRICS
Here is my new pattern, English Trellis, I made with the Morrison Park prints. You can find the English Trellis in my pattern shop.
I started by picking 5 of the Morrison Park fabrics, then combined them with navy, white, and gray solids.
I designed the quilt in EQ8 and was able to use the fabric images to render into a quilt top so I knew I would be happy with the colors and prints before I even started cutting. Pretty soon I had a pile of beautiful blocks finished.
FIGURE EIGHT QUILTING
Once I had the quilt top finished, I had to decide how to quilt it. I went back and forth with quilting designs, from a simple stipple to complex custom quilting.
I decided to use the piecing to my advantage and quilt a large, allover figure eight motif using the 3" (finished) fabric pieces in quilt to keep my spacing and sizing even. I used a similar pattern (on a 2" scale) on my ruler quilt you can see here.
I used Aurifil 50 wt thread in the soft white 2021 (my favorite) for all of the piecing and quilting. Even though the white thread goes across the navy and gray fabrics, because the thread is fine, you can not see it much.
ENGLISH TRELLIS PATTERN
I made the lap size version of English Trellis, but the pattern contains instructions for baby, lap, twin, and king sizes. It is prefect for a confident beginner quilter and is fat quarter (or scrap) friendly.
Many thanks to Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl for professionally tech editing English trellis!ADDITIONAL QUILT PICTURES
Here are some more pictures I took of the finished quilt top and quilt ...
BEHIND THE SCENES
When scouting out locations for the quilt photography I noticed a new fence had been installed behind a doctor's office near my house. The fence was wet from a storm the night before giving the wood a deeper, richer tone. The funny thing was that the fence was installed to block the view of an unsightly dumpster :) Here is a zoomed out picture of the quilt.
PINTEREST PIC
I have been trying to learn Pinterest better and be more active in the program. This has caused me to rearrange my boards, pins, and really focus on quilting.
In addition, I have been trying to make some more "pinnable" images. Here is one of my creations if you would like to pin this pattern for later. You can find me on Pinterest right here.
