Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup - August 2022

Welcome to August's Favorite Finish Monthly Linkup!

My big finish this month is the release of my Up the Ladder pattern (you can find the pattern in my pattern shop and on Etsy for only $9.98 through Friday night).  I had made the lap size version years ago for a collaboration for Quilt Theory and when I expanded the pattern I added a baby size which I just finished.  It was a super fun, quick finish that used some of my favorite scraps in a more modern, minimalist design.

Ready for the party?

Here is a reminder of the party details:
  • The linky party will open at 12:01am EST on the last day of the month and will be open for 5 days, through the 4th at 11:59 pm EST.
  • For instructions on how to link up blog, Instagram, or pictures from your computer (new - there is now a way to just upload a picture without a web link) to the party, click here.
  • If linking a blog post, I ask that you please add a link back to the party.
  • Please visit at least 3 other links (and preferably leave comments) to share the love and celebration :)
I hope you join in by checking out the posts or linking your favorite finish of the month!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Up the Ladder Pattern Release

I am happy to announce the release of my Up the Ladder quilt pattern !  The Up the Ladder pattern is now available (with a limited time intro price):

The throw sized version of Up the Ladder was initially released as part of the Quilt Theory collaboration.  It was a wonderful group of seven modern quilt pattern designers that created postcard sized modern quilt patterns.

Over the years I have been asked about the availability of Up the Ladder so I decided to expand the instructions (it went from the back of a post card to a four page, full color pattern with a coloring page) and also add a baby size layout.

Up the Ladder was inspired by traditional quilt ladders used to showcase and store quilts and is a scrap friendly design that combines beginner level piecing into a strong geometric design.

This picture and all of the beautiful throw sized quilt pictures were taken by Michelle Bartholomew.

FABRICS & MATERIALS

The throw sized cover quilt was made using Michael Miller Cotton Couture Solids.  The baby sized version was made using some scraps from my Camden Road quilt on a white background.

I used my favorite Warm & White batting by the Warm Company and Aurifil thread for the piecing and quilting.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

For the throw version of Up the Ladder I used a topographical looking all over quilting design.  For the baby version I went with a bear claw (sometimes also referred to as an open swirl) all over design.  Both designs are fun, beginner friendly and give a good texture to all of the white background fabric.

PATTERN DETAILS

Up the Ladder is a scrap friendly, modern quilt pattern that contains instructions for baby and throw sizes.

The pattern is on sale in my pattern shop as a digital pattern at a special introductory price of $9.75 now through Friday August 2nd (midnight ET).  Once you make an Up the Ladder quilt of your own, you can share it via social media using the hashtag #UptheLadderQuilt.

In both my pattern shop and Etsy, you can combine this intro sale price with an additional coupon for more savings. Use the code "TWOPATTERNS" for $2 off 2 patterns and "THREEPATTERNS" for $4 off 3 patterns.

MANY THANKS

I would like to thank Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl for her amazing tech editing skills and quilting ideas and to the entire Quilt Theory team.  I would also like to thank the Warm Company for the Warm & White batting (my favorite!).

Teaching at Electric Quilt Academy

I am so happy to be teaching at the upcoming Electric Quilt Academy in Ohio in late September!

This is a wonderful set of workshops that feels more like a retreat with small class sizes.  Plus the group tends to eat meals together so you can make new quilt friends.  You can come for one or all three days.

The workshop is hosted by Electric Quilt in-person from September 29 - October 1, 2022 in Perrysburg, Ohio.  I will be flying into Detroit which is not too far from Perrysburg.

I will be teaching four workshops on Friday and Saturday.  If you are brand new to EQ8, there is a two day beginner class that is always super popular.

Friday, September 30, 2022: 9 am - noon

Friday, September 30: 1-4 pm
Saturday, October 1: 1-4 pm

Saturday, October 1: 9am - noon

Do you use EQ8?  Are going to attend (or thinking about) attending EQ Academy?  Would you be interested in an online EQ8 workshop?

Melodic Mystery Quilt - My Fabrics

Are you taking part in the Melodic Mystery quilt and have you picked out fabrics yet?  Here are the fabrics I have decided to use...

I love Giucy Giuce fabrics so decided to use his Fabric from the Attic collection for Andover Fabrics (this is actually the third quilt I have made with this collection, it is one of my favorites).

If you would like to make the same quilt as me, you can find the fabrics (I could only find a fat quarter bundle of the prints, I could not find charm packs) on Etsy (affiliate links):

Fabric A - 2 Charm Packs (but no charm packs available so I got a fat quarter bundle) - Fabric from the Attic by Giucy Giuce for Andover Fabrics

Fabric B - 1 yard - Century Solids by Andover in Moonlight

Fabric C - 1 ¾ yard - Century Solids by Andover in Gunmetal

Bg Fabric - 2 ¾ yards - Century Solids by Andover in Cottonball

Binding Fabric - ¾ yard - Throughline from Fabric from the Attic

You can find the other quilt kits from the Fat Quarter Shop right here.

I'd love to see your fabrics!  Please consider sharing them in the Meadow Mist Designs Facebook Group so everyone can see them and the cutting instructions will be posted on Thursday!
