The fabric I received (randomly selected) was Painter’s Palette solids by Paintbrush Studios in Wisteria (color 121-017) and the matching thread was Aurifil 2560 in 50 wt. Wisteria is one of the Paintbrush Studio trending colors for 2019, you can find them all right here.
I really like using 50wt for free motion quilting as it is thick enough to see, but thin enough that it does not build up on the quilt if I have multiple lines of stitching on each other.
I divided the whole cloth into triangle shapes using my walking foot then filled in each section using different free motion quilting designs. I was able to quilt very small and dense because the quilt was such a small and manageable size.
I bound the quilt in the same Wisteria color and now the quilt is living on my coffee table in my family room.
Here are some outtakes of the photo session where Reeses and Oreo want to get into the picture.
Thank you Aurifil and Paintbrush Studios for including me on this fun challenge!
I love it! That Wisteria colour is gorgeous, and your quilting is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt - although I think you may need a second so each kitty gets one.
ReplyDeleteVery nice quilting! I like how you sectioned it off in elongated triangles.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Cheryl! I love that Aurifil has the artisans doing monthly challenges! I'm sorry I'm missing the fun!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. My main takeaway is how you divided it into sections first. That is perfect. I have been practicing FMQ lately and I think this is a great inspiration for my next practice round. Thank you!! Love the names of your kitties.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration Cheryl. The result is great! What type of batting did you use to obtain this definition?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little quilt. I love the quilting which looks so perfect. The segments really allow you to change quilting patterns without any problems. And the color, wisteria, is so wonderful. Your photography is also wonderful.
