The MQG challenge quilt is due by the end of July and had the following rules:
- Make something fantastic that is quilted.
- Make something you’ve never done before.
- Challenge yourself to learn something new.
- Use only Riley Blake Cottage Garden fabrics and coordinating Riley Blake basics and solids.
An equilateral triangle quilt has been on my to-do list forever and with some of the prints being equilateral triangles, it seemed like a good fit. (Below is one of the prints.)
I played with EQ7 until I found a design I liked (see my post yesterday on how to design a triangle quilt quickly and easily on EQ7) and started cutting fabric.
I have cut all of my triangles and started piecing them together. We have until the end of July to finish the quilt which seemed like such a far way off when we got the fabric, but now is right around the corner. I better get sewing :)

The MQG challenge quilt is also my July goal for ALYOF.
What is it about equilateral triangles that is so alluring? I've been wanting to play with them lately, too!! Your design is great, and good idea making your quilt your ALYoF goal, too. ALYoF has really helped me actually fully finish projects on a somewhat regular basis. It's pretty fabulous! I can't wait to see your completed quilt! It looks great so far :)

ReplyDeleteAha! That were the EQ7 design was going! With today being the first of july...it is about time to get going on the Riley Blake Challenge! I just started mine yesterday. I love what you are doing, can't wait to see more!

ReplyDeleteI hate to be a downer, but I think we have until July 15th. I thought we had until the end of the month until the MQG started saying the 15th recently on Facebook posts...

it's looking great, this design works so well with the fabrics. I've never made an equilateral triangle quilt either and I like the idea of it, but I need to wait until my piecing is a bit more precise as I'd have some serious issues trying to sew bias seams with my shoddy seam allowance!
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is going to be a darling quilt with all of those fabrics! I can't wait to see this all together! I have a triangle quilt on my to-do list as well and that will probably be awhile before I do. I think these fabrics are perfect for this, too! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm puzzled by the piecing. Usually I've seen quilts like this sewn together in diagonal rows. If you could explain your technique and reasoning an a future post I'd appreciate it. The quilt will be beautiful.
