WIP - Over the River Baby Quilt

It was a little quiet here on the blog in the month of August because I was finishing up some quilt patterns and some secret quilting.  Once the majority of that work was done, I decided to work on something simple and fun.

I had purchased two charm packs of Into the Woods by Lella Boutique and decided to play with them before they got buried in my stash for goodness knows how long.

I played around with some layouts on my design wall and came up with a design I liked and started cutting and stitching.  Here is a baby sized quilt top I made with the charm packs.

I am thinking some looping quilting is in order for this quilt.

I have not linked up with any fun linky parties recently so I am very happy to link up with Sew Cute Tuesday @ Blossom Heart QuiltsFabric Tuesday @ Quilt StoryLet's Bee Social @ Sew Fresh QuiltsNeedle and Thread Thursday @ My Quilt Infatuation, and WIP Wednesday @ Freshly Pieced.

  1. Looks great, Cheryl! I like how the white horizontal lines break up the pattern and make it seem like you are looking through a fence or down through slats at the pattern below.

  3. What a cute design! Isn't it nice to do some "mindless" piecing for a change. I think we sometimes get into such a crunch, even self induced that quilting isn't always the fun, fun, fun it's supposed to be. I'm such a perfectionist that sometimes I get so tense that I realize I need to take a break to relax and then go back to have fun. I can made a major ordeal out of something fun. I entered my first entry into a quilt show. I just had the quilter do a pantograph because when I did the quilt I never had a thought of entering the quilt. However, it was nice to hear the judges nice remarks about my other choices - my nice seams, etc. So, I was pleased that I my work was recognized. My husband (now deceased) would have been thrilled. He loved to see me ply my craft.

  4. Fine use of a charm pack (or two)! I'm always stumped on what to make with charm packs... not enough for a big quilt, so many small quilts in the stash already! :)

  7. Pretty quilt for a baby, and will be suitable for both a boy and a girl. I like the play of lines along the blocks.
