The second quilt that I am entering in Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival is my Pink Broken Herringbon Quilt in the baby quilt division.
My sister asked me to make a modern quilt for a friends' soon to be born baby girl. She wanted something more than just patchwork but still wanted it to be simple and classic. I have loved the broken herringbone design for a while so this was my excuse to make one :)
I pull all sorts of reds and pinks, many from my 5" square scrap pile and set about making some HST. I love how many of the colors of the prints do not "go" with each other, but when all placed together with a scrappy arrangement on a background of white, they all kind of go together.
I quilted the broken herringbone quilt using straight lines echoing the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal seams. I used a favorite pink and white stripe fabric for the binding.

ReplyDeleteGreat design and it shows how when you have lots of different fabrics in close colours they do create a harmonious whole, whereas if you only used two or three fabrics you could go nuts trying to get them to match properly.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! Love colors!
