My wonderful bloggy friend Yvonne, who blogs are Quilting Jetgirl, hosts an annual planning party to layout goals for the upcoming year. I thought that I would use this post to first go back to my 2017 goals to see if I had actually accomplished them and then post my 2018 goals.
2017 Goal Check-In
- Design and host the 2017-18 mystery quilt
- Submit some quilt proposals to magazines
- Make at least 4 charity quilts
- Take at least one multiple week long blogging vacation
- Host the Best of 2017 Linky Party
- Learn needle turned applique and make the Rin quilt by Carolyn Friedlander.
2018 Goals
My main goal and word for 2018 is going to be BALANCE.
2017 was a very busy year full of deadline after deadline and I would like to strive for a better balance between deadline sewing & fun sewing and sewing in general & other aspects of my life (family, work, house, etc.).
I am intentionally setting less goals for myself this year to help bring more balance and a smaller to-do list.
- Launch of the Modern Plus Sign Quilt book (including a book hop, Quilt Market, guild lectures/workshops)
- Host the Modern Plus Sign Sampler quilt along. This is going to be a fun quilt along that combines almost all of the plus signs from the book into a lap sized sampler. The QAL will kick off in July.
- Host a twice yearly Tips and Tutorials Festival with Yvonne @ Quilting Jetgirl.
- Make at least 4 charity quilts
- Host the Best of 2018 Linky Party
Hooray for meeting all of your goals! I totally agree about seeking additional balance in 2018 -- I want to be more intentional with what I say yes and no to and to focus on things that are good for me and my craft and not just things that are good for business.
ReplyDeleteGood lists! Thank you for waiting until after Christmas to do your linky. I am enjoying the holidays and will think about the new year next week.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a very successful 2017 and good luck with your goals for 2018. With the book coming out, you'll be very busy next year. Wishing you good balance in 2018!
ReplyDeleteYou had a terrific year and a great one coming up! Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great year!!! Can't wait for your book! February can't get here quick enough!
ReplyDeleteI think having a word of the year to focus on, like Balance, is a really good idea. You can evaluate all opportunities against whether you can keep things in balance. I'm so excited for a lot of your hard work from this year to shine next year, and I look forward to co-hosting with you again. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to your book coming out in Feb!
ReplyDeleteWow, you were busy. Looking forward to your book. Happy Holidays.

ReplyDeleteNo mystery quilt in 2018? How am I going to survive? :-(
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, wonderful goals though I'll really miss the mystery but the quilt along sounds great. Looking forward to your book!
When I grow up, I want to be just like you! Meeting all your goals, that is. You did very well in 2017 and I'm sure you'll do well in 2018. I am really looking forward to being in the book hop. Congratulations on your fine achievement and on your upcoming published book.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a super year meeting and surpassing your goals. I wish you the best in 2018.
