I am happy to announce that my Checkers quilt is finished and the pattern is being released today! The Checkers pattern is now available:
Checkers is a fun little twist on the classic nine-patch block by putting the blocks on point and adding sashing. My cats are already busy doing their quality assurance on it :)
The quilt pattern is a great throw sized quilt to highlight some of your favorite fat quarters, fat eighths, or scraps.
FABRICS & MATERIALS
The cover quilt is made with:
- Various scraps in pinks, teals, blues, and yellows
- Bella Solids in Smoke and White
The start of this quilt was a home decorating magazine cover with a picture of a fun, teenaged girl's room. I pulled color inspiration of the picture and then pulled different fat quarters and scraps from my stash with those colors.
I used my favorite Warm & White batting by the Warm Company and Aurifil thread for the piecing. I wanted to use a darker teal for the binding, but I did not have enough of any one print, so the binding is a mixture of two similarly toned prints.
For the backing, I went with an older Tula Pink wide-back print.
ABOUT THE QUILTING
I went with my one of my favorite quilting designs for Checkers, a large paisley shape. I love the larger scale of the design, the flow it gives the quilt, and how it adds texture without taking away from the piecing.
PATTERN DETAILS
Checkers is a lap/throw sized quilt pattern that is fat quarter, fat eighth, and scrap friendly.I have been more and more active on Pinterest (check me out here). If you would like to save Checkers for later on your Pinterest boards, here is a pinnable image.
Love it! You've done it again. . . Another great pattern. Finally a suitable way to use my favorite "scraps"!

ReplyDeleteLovely! Congrats on another pattern release. Aren't cats the best where quilts are concerned as my 2 late cats adored the quilt process and then the finished quilt. Looking forward to next Thursday. Take care & hugs.
