Macaron Mystery Quilt ++ Fabric Requirements

Welcome to the kick off of the Macaron Mystery Quilt!!  I am so excited to get started and I hope that you are too!   

The Macaron Mystery Quilt is a free, monthly quilt along hosted on my blog (all instructions will be posted here) running from July 2021 through April 2022 with a set of instructions posted the first Thursday of every month.   

The lap sized mystery quilt is at an advanced beginner level containing basic piecing techniques (no applique, Y-seams, or paper piecing).   

The directions and all of the other information relate dot the mystery quilt can always be found on the Macaron Mystery Home Page.

You do not need to purchase a fabric kit to take part in the Macaron Mystery quilt along, but if you would like to use a fabric kit there are many options!  I put the fabric kit information into its own post (also posting today at the same time) to keep this post from being too long.  You can find the quilt kits here.

EASY TO PRINT INSTRUCTIONS

Each month, the instructions will be posted as a blog post on the Meadow Mist Designs blog with an option to download those instructions as an easy to print pdf through the end of the quilt along.

Macaron Mystery Quilt - Part 1 - Fabric Requirements

And now without further ado....July's instructions...remember, you have an entire month to get your fabric, the next set of instructions comes out on Thursday, August 5th.

PATTERN NOTES 

• Width of fabrics (WOF) for this pattern is assumed to be 40".  
• A scant ¼" (a thread width smaller than ¼") seam is to be used throughout the construction of the quilt unless otherwise instructed.  

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

FABRIC SELECTION TIPS

• The quilt has two background fabrics, a first background fabric (bg1) mainly within the blocks and a second background fabric (bg2) which forms a larger amount of the background of the quilt top.
• It is suggested that a solid or a tone-on-tone print that reads as a solid be used for the background fabrics.
• Due to the finished fabric piece sizes and piecing methods for the quilt top, it is recommended that fabric prints used have a non-directional design.
• To help plan your fabrics for the mystery quilt, be sure that all fabrics that are next to each other have enough contrast between them.

• Each of the Fabrics A-D may be made using scraps of similar colors instead of a single fabric if desired.  Generally, the Fabric A-D pieces within the quilt will be 5 ¼" x 5 ¼" or smaller.
