For those who are new here, here is a little about myself (for those that are returning, thank you!).
My name is Cheryl and I am a chemical engineer/patent agent by day and a quilter at night. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who allowed me to turn the guest bedroom into my quilting room, a 9 year old son and 6 year old daughter. I love designing quilt patterns and doing quilty math which allows me to combine my quilting skills with my engineering and technical writing backgrounds.
Three fun events on my blog in 2016:
The Meadow Mystery Quilt, my third and most recent mystery quilt-along which started in July and will wrap up in April. Instructions are posted monthly so there is plenty of time to join in and catch up!
In the beginning of 2016, I presented a blog series called the Pattern Writing Blog Series. The 16-part series taught how to take a quilt design from a sketch book to a fully developed quilt pattern, demonstrating each step and concept using an actual quilt pattern example.

ReplyDeleteHello! Thank you for the chance to win! I am most fond of lap size quilts.
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl! Love your patterns. I mostly make lap size quilts or baby quilts because 1) I have a short attention span and 2) I find it hard to wrangle bigger quilts than that through my machine

ReplyDeleteI am making a crib size version of your State of Being quilt at this time. I lopped off a row each direction. I may move some blocks around if it needs more balance but so far it looks great. I make a fair number of minis and lap quilts. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteSeriously... I have to confess that I do not stick to standard sizes in quilting. I piece away until I think the piece has a size I like. Going from there, I cut the batting to match. I do try however to make sure that I could use the quilt on bed, which has a width of 1.40 metres.

ReplyDeleteThis week at guild I showed my State of Being quilt, complete except for sewing down the binding. Everyone loved it! I had an interesting comment on my blog....does the pattern show a complete star being fractured as it spreads across the quilt....or do the pieces come together to finally form the completed star? Kind of like " is the glass half empty, or half full?". This quilt will go to my grandson soon, for his first big-boy bed! thanks for such a cool pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love to make quilts about 60 inches, mostly, just love it

ReplyDelete(Since I quilt on my "vintage"-almost-as-old-as-me Singer 301, I usually like to keep to generous throw sizes or baby quilts! Larger is possible, but I've found that more people are interested in receiving a generous throw size than a full king or queen size quilt, anyway!)

ReplyDeleteMy general quilt is anywhere from twin to large full (that covers the top of a queensize bed nicely) But I make quilts in many sizes. I love making art quilts that are much smaller - say 18 inches square.

ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, I follow you by email.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I follow you via email subscription. I like making bed size quilts. There's only so many quilts needed for cuddling on the couch, lap size, so I like to turn lap size patterns into bed size patterns by adding more blocks and more borders. ljbisme at msn dot com
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty and fun give a way. thanks. I have made a king sized quilt for my son when he got married and approx. 8 yrs. before I made him civil war twin size quilt for reenacting. But most of what I make are baby quilts.
ReplyDeletequilting dash lady at Comcast dot net
I believe I like making smaller quilts the best. The larger ones tend to take longer to completely finish (backing, baste, quilt and bind) -- a sizable "back up" going on over here :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you for offering this give away. You and SMS are very generous and I adore all of you
Cheryl thanks for this opportunity. I follow via blogger
ReplyDeleteMost of my quilts are lap size. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI haven't made enough quilts to have a "typical" size. The one I most recently made was queen-sized, though, and that was a bit much for me to want to do often. squidlebees @ gmail. com
ReplyDeleteI most often fall into nearly queen size quilts, but I also make a lot of smaller sample things for the store I work in. Finished. Up quite a few UFO's this year and am enjoying participating in the mystery quilt!
