100 Blocks Volume 10 Blog Tour

Welcome to my stop on the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 10 Blog Tour!

I submitted a block for consideration for the magazine not really thinking that it would be accepted and was so excited when I got an e-mail telling me that Sewing Triangles would be included in Volume 10.

I love to play with half square triangles (HST) and low volume prints for a background so with a little playing I came up with Sewing Triangles.

If you make a bunch of blocks and add a border you can have a lap sized quilt with a great secondary pattern emerging.

Make sure you stop by Quiltmaker's blog, Quilty Pleasures, for some great prizes and a complete list of blog tour participants!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope that you have a chance to check out some of my recent finishes and check out my mystery quilt-a-long :)  If you would like to follow my blog, there are buttons for bloglovin, feedly, and email in the upper right hand part of the blog.

Now on to the Giveaway:

Quiltmaker's Magazine has generously donated a free issue for a giveaway!  This magazine drawing is open to everyone-international included.  The magazine will be shipped directly from Quiltmaker's.

To enter, just leave a comment telling me if you plan to make some handmade gifts for the holiday season this year.

The giveaway will run for 1 week, until 8pm EST on November 25th.  I try to respond to each and every comment I get on my blog, but with giveaway posts the numbers are usually too great to do this.

If you are a no-reply blogger, please leave your e-mail address.  If I can't reach you, you can't win.

** Giveaway closed, thanks for entering **

I'm new to quilting so don't think anything I make will be good enough to give as a gift this year. I am making a table runner for our home though and if it turns out OK, I'll try to repeat it for a gift for someone next year! Learning so much from lots of blogs, including this one, and am so grateful for everyone taking the time to do this for my benefit (and so many others!)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Lots of subtlety here. You have to get close to see the background prints. Could be fun as an autograph block, too.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I really like the look of your block with the positive and negatives, really gives it a whole new look. I have been making presents for my friends and almost done, then I will get to presents for my family, since I don't have to mail those, so hopefully it will all be done in time.

  153. Your block has so many subtleties to it--the secondary designs are great.

I had big plans for quilts this year, but with two sick dogs (cancer) I am scaling way back. Baby quilts are going to the machine quilter instead of being lovingly quilted by me, and I am going to tie the two quilts I have pieced for the dogs. I'll be making some nice memories, tying quilts with my girls as we watch holiday movies. Christmasy enough for me this year.

  162. No, I don't have plans to make anything homemade for this Christmas....but I'm giving two quilt kits to my daughters with a note that I will make the quilts for each of them this coming year.

  163. We made Christmas socks for all the moms and dads and grandchildren last year and are currently making bed-size quilts for the grandkiddies for next year-20+ quilts--have 11 finished. (Their parents received theirs three years ago.) Your triangle block would be great in a two-color quilt. Look forward to using it.

  169. Yes, I will be making items for Christmas... some will be tatted, some could be bobbin lace, but most will be sewn. I've already sent our summer church 204 "criss cross coasters" to give away to the folks that attend their community Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday. This will not doubt be the most gifts I've made in one season :) They do count don't they? K

  173. Great block! I always like seeing a secondary pattern emerge when quilt blocks are sewn together. I am not sure yet if I will be making handmade gifts for Christmas this year. At this point they will have to be gifts that are quick to make.

  186. I really like the quilt made from your block...visually, you eyes are drawn to all the different patterns in it! This year I am not making any handmade Christmas gifts...I am busy with work and a MKAL (mystery knit a long). Usually I make small Christmas ornaments but this year I found some pretty ones at Ikea. :-)

  189. At the beginning of this year, I had big plans to make one gift a month so that I'd have a nice stash of them for gift giving throughout the year (or for Christmas). Unfortunately, I made ZERO. I am make some dinner roll holders for a few folks for Thanksgiving, and a couple of sets of Christmas placemats for hostess gifts. Maybe I'll do better next year...
