When I originally designed the Vintage Stars pattern I envisioned a white sashing between the blocks, but I started questioning that decision and wondering if there would be too much white in the quilt.
I tried out all sorts of colors and prints as the sashing and the leading candidates are Kona white and Kona ash. I have mocked up the quilt top as best I can to get an idea on how each sashing color will make the quilt top look.
Could I have your help in deciding, which sashing do you prefer, white or ash? Thanks for your help!

I can see why you are having a hard time deciding. The whole blocks really pop against the ash. But at the same time I can envision white sashing and all of the white quilted (even in the blocks) so that the colored pieces pop. I cant wait to see what you decide
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can lose no matter what choice you make since the colors in your blocks are so gorgeous; I'd personally go with the white; I think it makes the colors of your blocks more vibrant.
ReplyDeleteI love your scrap pile for the blog hop; I posted my scrap bucket for my hop quilt a few days ago because I just happened to glance into it while I was trimming and decided that it was to fun not to share :-)
From the photos I'd go with white but both do work!
ReplyDeleteI like the fresh look with the white, but it's a tough decision. I'm so glad you'll be hopping with us and I can't wait to see what you made! :O)
ReplyDeleteI like the ash sashing the most, just because of the contrast. Your hint for the blog hop is tantalizing! I'll have to remember tomorrow to start hopping!
ReplyDeleteI vote white as well. It makes the colors pop and shine!
ReplyDeleteAsh all the way!
ReplyDeleteI love your new pattern! I actually think the ash makes for a nice subtle contrast. I guess I need to check out the hop!!!
ReplyDeleteThe ash looks great! Love the contrast.
ReplyDeleteAsh frames the blocks and white makes the colors pop. I think I would go with ash because I like to frame my blocks. Can't wait to see what you are making for the kona blog hop :)

Love how the stars shine so bright against the white.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to keep them looking like blocks, I'd say the ash. If you want the stars to stand out, go for white as the background would disappear and the stars would look like they were just pieced into a solid back. I tend to like the white more as the colors seem bright on it. And I'm excited to see what you'll be doing for the hop.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the white, though I didn't think I would at first. I think to break up all the white maybe a square of something in the intersections of the sashing for the blocks?
ReplyDeleteThe white is my favorite... Really cool blocks too btw!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing
