Day 8 - Just Two Charm Pack Quilts - Book Hop

Welcome to the 8th and final day of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book hop!

Today we are hopping along with Julie from The Crafty Quilter and Tish from Tish N Wonderland making the Abby & Katie quilt and Sandra from MMM Quilts making the Diamond Hashtag quilt.

There are also two different giveaways for a digital copy of the book, you can enter all two! You can find all links for the blog hop and more on the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts page.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Each pattern in the book uses two charm packs, an additional fabric (called fabric A in the pattern) and a background fabric).  The book is the Hamburger Helper for charm packs, stretching two charm packs each into large throw sized quilts.  The book also teaches how to combine two different charm packs, expand one charm pack into two, and how to create your own charm packs from your stash.

All pictures in this post are curtesy of Stash / C&T Publications unless otherwise stated.

ABBY AND KATIE

The 15th quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is the Abby and Katie pattern.  This quilt is build from two different blocks, a first made with the charm squares and the background fabric and a second made using the fabric A and the background fabric.  Because there were two blocks, I decided to name this quilt after my cat and yellow lab that have passed away (Abby was my cat and Katie was my dog).

The main version was pieced and quilted by Michele B. and used the Meander collection by Aneela Hoey for Moda Fabrics along with Moda Solids in Etching Slate and Feather.

The alternate version of Abby & Katie was pieced and quilted by Faye Jones. Where the main version is soft and sweet, the alternative version is fun and bright. I love how the different fabrics can make a design look so different. The alternate version combined Sun Print Luminance by Alison Glass for Andover with Century Solids in Raspberry and Sky. Faye used the warmer toned prints from the charm pack in the inner blocks and the cooler toned printed in the outer blocks.

Julie of The Crafty Quilter created a version of Abby & Katie for the hop.  Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her blog to see the finished quilt. I love how Julie used just the block A from the pattern to make a totally different looking quilt!

** Julie is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her blog **

Tish of Tish N Wonderland also made a version of Abby & Katie. Yes, Tish actually made four quilts for the hop and I love them all!  You can see her two versions of Star Rays and her version of Snapdragon Cove.  Tish made a holiday version of Abby & Katie and it is stunning! Hop over to Tish's blog to see the finish!

DIAMOND HASHTAG

The 16th and last (but not least) quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is Diamond Hashtag.  The quilt design looks like a cross between a hashtag and a diamond block, hence the name :)  Paige of Quilted Blooms (and my co-author of my first book Modern Plus Sign Quilts) pieced the quilt and Valerie K. quilted it.

The quilt was made using the Love Always collection by Anna Maria Horner paired with FreeSpirit Essential Solids in white and oasis.  The oasis color is a soft muted green and copmpliments the the bright colors of the prints perfectly.

The alternate version of Diamond Hashtag was pieced by me and quilted by the Bear Creek Quilting Company and it used the Sonnet Dusk collection by Corri Sheff for Riley Blake Fabrics along with Confetti Cotton Solids in white and charcoal.  This quilt design could easily be expanded into a bed sized quilt or made smaller into a child quilt by adding or taking away blocks.

Sandra of MMM Quilts created a version of Diamond Hashtag for the hop. Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her blog to see the finished quilt. I really like how the hashtag fabric is closer to the background fabric so it blends in more, hop over to Sandra's blog or Instagram to see the finish!

** Sandra is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her blog**

WRAP UP

Well, that is an in depth look at all 16 quilts from the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book as well as 16 hop participants' versions. Did you enjoy the hop?  Thanks!!

Remember, you can get your signed copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book and a free additional pattern now through the end of the book hop.

You can also find the book at your local quilt shop, AmazonConnecting Threads, the Fat Quarter ShopC&T Publications, and more. (affiliate links)

    SNAPDRAGON COVE

The 13th quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is the Snapdragon Cove pattern.  This is one of my favorite patterns in the book with a fun diamond design and lots of half-square triangles.  I pieced and quilted the main version of Snapdragon Cove and used the Indigo Garden collection by Heather Peterson for Riley Blake along with Confetti Cotton Solids in White and Cape Verde.  The Cape Verde is just the most perfect dark teal with a little green mixed in.

The alternate version of Snapdragon Cove was also pieced and quilted by me.  This version used the Strawberry & Friends collection by Ruby Star Society with white and gray solids.  I love how bright and scrappy the Strawberry & Friends collection is.  For the quilting, I used the grid of the quilt blocks and added a cursive "ele" in each block.

Michelle of From Bolt to Beauty created a version of Snapdragon Cove for the hop.  Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her blog or Instagram to see the finished quilt.  I am so excited to see the finished quilt, this sneak peek looks fantastic and I love the gray/blue background!

** Michelle is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her blog **

Susan from Granny Smith Quilting also made a version of Snapdragon Cove. Here is her quilt in-progress and I will link to the quilt top when it is finished.

Tish of Tish N Wonderland also made a version of Snapdragon Cove.  This is in addition to the two versions of Star Rays she made and Abby & Katie (being shown on Friday).  It looks like Tish is using an almost solid of a dark green, teal color, hop over to Tish's blog to see the finish!

    STRING LIGHTS

The 14th quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is String Lights.  As soon as I designed the quilt using EQ8, my son said that it looked like a string of lights (like his sister has hanging in her room) and that is how the quilt earned its name.

The main version of the quilt was pieced by me and quilted by the Bear Creek Quilting Company.  I used the Sincerely Yours by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda along with a yellow fabric A and a black background.  I love how the reds, pinks, and purples pop against the black background.

The alternate version of String Lights was pieced and quilted by Delia of Willowlark and combined the Peppermint collection by Dana Willard for Figo Fabrics along with pink and white solids. This fun collection of red, aqua, pink and black is not your typical Christmas/holiday collection and I love the different colors together.  Delia (Website, IG) quilted the quilt using an all over design inspired by the leaf design in one of the prints.

Sarah of Sarah Goer Quilts created a version of String Lights for the hop. Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her website or Instagram or Facebook to see the finished quilt. The pickle background color is fantastic against the rainbow prints.  Sarah decided to leave off the fabric A "jewel" at the bottom of each column and I love the different look.  Hop over to Sarah's website or Instagram or Facebook to see the finish!

** Sarah is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her sites **

Kathy of Life in Pieces also created a version of String Lights for the hop. Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her blog to see the finished quilt. Kathy went with darker blues as the charm squares against a white background which looks fantastic!

** Kathy is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her blog**

I hope that you enjoyed seeing these quilts and will check back tomorrow for more quilts :)  Remember, you can get your signed copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book and a free additional pattern now through the end of the book hop.

Day 6 - Just Two Charm Pack Quilts - Book Hop

Welcome to the 6th day of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book hop, are you ready to see the Taylors Square and Carnegie Plaid quilts?

Heather of My Sew Quilty Life and Shelley of the Carpenters Daughters Who Quilts each made a version of Taylors Square and Cara of Sew Colorado Quilting made a version of Carnegie Plaid.  All three quilters are hosting a giveaway for a digital copy of the book so be sure to visit them.

    SPECIAL BOOK HOP DEAL

You can also find the book at your local quilt shop, AmazonConnecting Threads, the Fat Quarter ShopC&T Publications, and more. (affiliate links)

    TAYLORS SQUARE

The 11th quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is the Taylors Square pattern.  The main version of the design was pieced and quilted by me and combined the Squeeze collection by Dana Willard for Figo with gray and white fabrics.  I love the Squeeze collection because it has a set of colors (oranges, yellows, pinks, and black) not normally found in collections (which is important when trying to select colorways for 32 quilts in a book :)

Because this quilt design is pieced with the blocks in a grid, it is very easy to change the size of the quilt by adding or taking away blocks.

The alternate version of Taylors Square was pieced by Ruth F. and quilted by Carol Alperin.  The alterative version uses a black background compared to the white background  of the main version, giving the quilt a totally different look.  The prints are Spooky Darlings by Ruby Star Society and I love the untraditional colors included.  Carol finished the quilt with a fun spiderweb quilting design.

Heather of My Sew Quilty Life created a version of Taylors Square for the hop.  Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her blog or Instagram to see the finished quilt.  Heather decided to make a slightly smaller version using 16 blocks, used multiple prints for the fabric A and is planning on using a curved edge to the quilt.  I love seeing how the book patterns are reimagined and used!

** Heather is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her **

Shelley from a Carpenters Daughter Who Quilts also made a version of the Taylors Square quilt. I love the soft blue background she used!! Both she and her quilter Rachel Meinke from the Carpenters Daughter Quilt Shop are hosting giveaways.

** Both Shelley and Rachel are hosting giveaways of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit them**

    CARNEGIE PLAID

The 12th quilt in the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book is Carnegie Plaid, a plaid look design integrating two colors and charm squares.  The main version of the quilt was pieced and quilted by me using the Velvet collection by Amy Sinibald for Art Gallery Fabrics along with white and a tone-on-tone gray print.

Fun Fact: I got my chemical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon and the college does not actually have official school colors but has an official plaid.  So that is how this quilt earned its name.

The alternate version of Carnegie Plaid was pieced and quilted by Garen S. and combined the Canning Day collection by Corey Yoder for Moda along with navy and white solids. I really like how the bright colors of the collection are framed by the more neutral solids.

Cara of Sew Colorado Quilting created a version of Carnegie Plaid for the hop. Here is just a sneak peek, hop over to her Instagram to see the finished quilt. These colors are fabulous and I can't wait to see the finished quilt, can you?

** Cara is hosting a giveaway of a digital copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book so be sure to visit her Instagram**

I hope that you enjoyed seeing these quilts and will check back tomorrow for more quilts :)  Remember, you can get your signed copy of the Just Two Charm Pack Quilts book and a free additional pattern now through the end of the book hop.
